Youth Club

Age range: Secondary School age (12 – 18 year olds)

When: Saturday nights 7.30 – 9.30p

Starting: beginning of October each year through to the end of June, with the exception of school holiday dates

Subscription: £0.50 per week (Subscriptions contribute towards the cost of the final event each season which is decided upon after consultation with members.)

The club has been running for 3 years and is open to any young person between 12 and 18 years of age. The lively and informal atmosphere attracts membership from a variety of backgrounds and areas as well as from Ballywillan Church itself, thus presenting opportunities to engage with a diverse range of young people.

A willing band of volunteer leaders assist with football, netball, circuits, table tennis, snooker, arts and crafts, dance classes, cookery and in the tuck shop. Each evening finishes with a short epilogue delivered by one of the leaders. We try each season to run a special event, and last year saw the club stage it's very own "X Factor", complete with compere, judges and acts ranging from Michael Jackson to dance groups! We finished the season with a games night and barbeque at the White Rocks beach.

A Youth Forum has been created, comprising 6 of the older club members. Their role is to represent membership in deciding what activities should be organised, as well as supporting the leaders as and when necessary. We look forward to a new batch of 12 year olds joining us for the first time in October, and would encourage all parents in the area to support the club by bringing their young people along each week.
